Another Commitment to Climate Action
A strong partnership for climate action: On 2 January 2026, Marion Dammann, District Administrator of the District of Lörrach, and Heiko Lais, Managing Director of Magnetic, signed the REGIONAL.KLIMASCHUTZ.MACHEN partnership declaration. By signing, both partners commit to supporting climate protection to the best of their ability and to achieving the goal of a climate-neutral region by 2040.
As part of the climate alliance, more than 40 municipalities, companies, and associations are currently working to:
- continuously reduce greenhouse gas emissions,
- conserve natural resources,
- leverage regional capacity for action,
- safeguard the region as a business location, and overall
- achieve climate neutrality.
By signing the partnership declaration, Magnetic is consistently continuing its path toward greater climate protection. Back in 2019, we began offsetting CO₂ emissions from our employees’ air travel through tree-planting initiatives. Since then, the Magnetic Pro Nature initiative—which we are driving forward together with the City of Schopfheim—has reforested an area of more than 5.51 hectares with over 9,400 trees. In addition, targeted greening measures have been implemented in the city centre, on the campus of the Friedrich Ebert School, and along the cycle path in Fahrnau.
We are also setting clear signals for climate action at our new site in Lörrach: Thanks to the KfW 40 Plus energy-efficiency standard and an energy-saving heating and cooling system with a groundwater heat pump, the Innovation Centre makes a significant contribution to reducing energy demand. We also generate a large share of our electricity on the roof: more than 1,000 square metres of solar panels provide up to 178 kWp. This enables employees at the Lörrach site to work and commute virtually climate-neutrally—our vehicle fleet, too, has already been converted to battery-electric vehicles, with only a few exceptions.
Sustainability and climate protection are becoming an increasingly important part of our business processes: Since 2024, our company has been ISO 14001 certified, giving us an important management system for recording our environmental footprint and reducing resource consumption. With mWing, we also have the first product from our company to provide comprehensive and transparent information about its environmental impacts through an Environmental Product Declaration—giving customers an important argument to support their purchasing decision.
Magnetic Managing Director Heiko Lais is proud of the new partnership with the climate alliance: “We were delighted that the City of Lörrach approached us. With a network of active partners, we can expand our commitment much more easily than before.”
