mWing pedestrian access gates, a touch of perfection for the new FAAC restaurant

So attractive and functional that even FAAC couldn’t do without them. The mWing FlowMotion® motorized access gates manufactured by Magnetic proved to be the perfect access management solution for the brand new restaurant at the Gruppo FAAC headquarters in Zola Predosa (BO) Italy.

Launched on the market at the end of 2019, the mWing pedestrian access gates have already become a reference point for anyone who wants the very best in design and technology available today.

Many companies and businesses have chosen these innovative gates, which even at first glance, with their slender profile and fluid lines, elegant design and customizable colours, convey a solid and assuring impression, helping to transmit a positive perception of your company. How could the company that designed and created them not choose them for itself?

Last year, FAAC embarked on the challenging and complex task of re-purposing and redesigning the spaces and areas at its headquarters. The principal objective was to reorganize make the FAAC facility more attractive whilst putting quality, comfort and safety in the workplace first.

A large green area, a central park-garden, has been created in the grounds of the FAAC headquarters (which in total covers an area of approximately 60,000 square meters), which is overlooked by the newly built restaurant to replace the previous company canteen.

The new restaurant is located inside a construction made almost entirely of glass. It is flooded with natural light, a place out of time and far removed from the daily work routine, where you can enjoy your lunch break in a regenerating and relaxing environment.

The choice of mWing access gates was a natural choice for a setting like this. Not only were they chosen for their elegance, which in this case was also enhanced by the white colour that makes them appear even slimmer and almost invisible, but also for their functionality and the advantages they offer for the management of the area.

A total of 5 mWing pedestrian gates have been installed in the FAAC restaurant to delimit the food serving area, separating it from the eating area.

The main function is to control who can access the restaurant: mWing is installed with the Keydom access control platform, which can manage both visitors and profiled users, which in this case are employees. People with cards and badges are identified by readers integrated into the body of the motorized mWing gate, eliminating unsightly external readers. This streamlines the flow of users and the proximity tag reader also means, for example, that people who have already washed their hands before lunch do not need to touch anything. The gates, integrated with the Keydom platform, also allow access by time slots and regulate flow, allowing users to enter until all the available seats are taken. The mWing gates allow passage in less than a second and are exceptionally resistant and durable. They are designed for 10 million maintenance-free opening and closing cycles, taking advantage of all Magnetic’s experience and the technology developed for its well-known motorway barriers. They are therefore also ideal for large companies, such as FAAC, with hundreds of employees and numerous guests who use the restaurant every day. Because the mWing gates can be connected directly to fire suppression systems and can allow free passage, they can also be used on escape routes.

The exclusive material, mDure, used for the structure of the motorized gates, is suitable for very frequent cleaning with detergents and disinfectants. It is warm to the touch and has a higher resistance than cold steel; its malleability also allows inserts and gaskets to be installed.

Another feature that makes the mWing gates very interesting for use in a modern and elegant corporate restaurant are the green or red go or stop LED lights, which function as a visual indication for users.

The mWing gates have a standard width of 600 mm but there is also a 900 mm version that easily allows the passage of trolleys and is the right solution also for disabled access.
