La Palma Airport expands access control to its security areas with new entry points.
“The new pre-security gates installed, three with individual passage and a fourth wider one for families and Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM), provide passengers with greater autonomy” says Aena.
La Palma Airport has installed an automatic system to automate passenger access to the security checkpoint prior to the boarding area. The implementation of this system has required the placement of four new electronic boarding gates, just before reaching the line of detector arches through which passengers and their hand luggage pass before flying, reports Aeropuertos Nacionales y Navegación Aérea (Aena).
The new gates installed, three for individual passage and a fourth wider one for families and Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM), provide greater autonomy to passengers, as they can access the security area directly with their boarding pass, without the need for assistance or contact with the airport personnel. They will only have to bring their boarding pass close to the gate reader and the gate will automatically verify the airline and flight information, allowing them to pass through.
This system, which is part of La Palma Airport's quality plan, contributes to the automation of airport processes and speeds up access control to the security areas prior to the boarding area, achieving a more uniform flow of passengers and reinforcing the sectorisation of the area, which ultimately contributes to improving the traveller's experience at La Palma Airport.
